Greetings,
Went looking for a new shooter's forum after having had enough of the attitude and paranoia of the tin foil hat crowd where I previously visited and contributed. Lurked here for a week to find that you people are serious (probably more so than I) and stick to the purpose of the forum. There is hope! I'm pretty impressed with the depth of conversation I've seen. Some of you are freakin' scientists when it comes to load development. Good stuff.
So... I'm happy to be the newbie here. I'm not new to marksmanship - it's been a love affair since my Dad, a 30 year Marine instructor, taught me at 8 years old. I'm over 50 now and I build my own equipment and enjoy everything from rimfire to magnums. I only compete against myself. It's my "zen".
My posts will probably be more philosophical than scientific, as the discipline of marksmanship is more of a mental and spiritual thing for me than the pure mechanics of it. Although, I certainly appreciate the necessary physical and mechanical aspects of accuracy. I build hot rods and custom motorcycles as well and I love functional beauty. It all comes down to the union of mind, body, and machine. Perfection of this union results in tiny groups, exploding milk jugs a mile away, or taming a fire breathing beast that you either sit in or sit on.
My best to all.
Scott
