I hope this doesn't turn into another "blue box / brown box" issue. 😃

That was the first thing I thought of too............ ;D

I have a few "same lot" red metal lids for Hodgdon and IMR 1lb powder bottles for sale. Will take $10 a piece. ;D

When they went from the cardboard boxes with the press-in lids to the plastic jugs, my groups doubled in size!

After that, old stock in cardboard boxes went for 10 times what the round jugs went for.

Powder in quantities of less than 44# barrels is QC deficiant always has been ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

I saw that PB was no longer going to be an IMR powder but a Hodgdon, though I never used it I was disheartend to know that I'll never see that brown PB can on the shelf again a mention something about a pound of peanut butter, damn oboma.

I have shot a handfull of rounds loaded w/ Varget.
The green coating BS translated into green carbon/fouling.

I torched the 6800grain of remaining powder

Temperature insensitive-BS
Lot to Lot burn rate variables-EXTREME
The lid material should be the least of your concerns!

No matter what their container tops are made of/from
I have not & will not purchase or shoot any Hodgdon Powder ever again in my life time.

Dupont IMR(steel can),Alliant or VV & life is good!

Catshooter you are full of it, Hodgdon went from a metal can to a plastic bottle with a metal lid. Do you invent this stuff as you go or what.
You're thinking of IMR Dupont packaging. I have some old Hodgdon 1 pounders packaged as shown above. Hercules had similar packaging in a tall round container. Back "in the day" I do remember the local Army-Navy store selling bulk powder by the paper bag.

I still have about one pound of the cardboard with the tin push in cover. I also have some of cans with tops you pushdown and It opens and squeeze the cap to reset the lid (Hercules rel 21). My old hodgdon is from WWII surplus
