New lids on Hodgdon powder.

i just went to look and I am all out of my 800X that came in a coffee can, and the BLC2 that was in a lunch bag. However, i have these and am open to bidders (starters at $45 per lid) if you are interested. it is obvious that the science of lids has undergone various theoretical changes over the years. i will not, however, give up the lid to my 35 pound barrel of 3031 that was purchased for 9 cents a pound in 1952...and which still fills a lot of 308 rounds! It would not fit into the photo easily, so I left it out.
;D ;D ;D

I think my lids spin off at the same speed as the metal.

Do you measure the concentricity of those lids and the possible variation in thread pitch between the metal and plastic? With what do you measure the speed and how, if you use a stop watch, do you allow for the variation of time between starting the watch, dropping it, grabbing the can and screwing? :o
I suggest further scientific investigation and when you do I theorize that you will find that there is an inversely proportional relationship between that thread pitch variaton, concentricity and who fast those lids come off and go on. Of course we can postulate that this will have an effect on the groups, like maybe a catastrphic internet important change between shooting in the 3's and in the 2's. We really need to look into this more deeply. ;D We are on to something!!

When Hodgdon first started selling powder, you got it in a brown paper bag, like your school lunch.

Yep, I remember seeing brown paper bags in my uncles' shop with "4831" written on them in black crayon, magic markers weren't invented yet. ;D
I still have a couple pounds of H450 I bought around '72-'74, eight pounds in a plastic bag stuffed in a box. What's left of it is in a gallon milk jug, the bag and box gave up the ghost years ago.
