New LC 93 NM brass...anneal before use?

I purchased a bunch of NEW LC93 NM .308 cases from the CMP 30 some years ago.

I'm wondering if I should re anneal it before I run it thru my sizing die (just to "smooth" out any case dings, etc)?

Brand new, never fired, NOT primed, NOT pull down

Thoughts?

When you say "new", are they actually like "new" from the manufacturer (like, directly from Lake City) or they really once-fired surplus that's been cleaned up?

If they're actually "new" brass, they don't need sizing and all you need to is run an appropriate mandrel through them. If they're once-.fired surplus cases that need sizing, then I'd say yes . . . anneal them before sizing.

LC93/94NM cases are what I've been using in my M1A. They were once fired when I obtained them back in the day..... Those cases are hard! Sizing took much more pressure on both downstroke and upstroke. New or once fired I'd say to anneal them if you can. FYI, it took about twice as long in the flame of my Annealeze than with a Winchester case for the neck to glow as I thought it should.

Brass that old should be annealed , just to realign the molecules and relax the material . Brass does Harden with time . I have cases that I processed some ten years ago that read out several points harder on the hardness tester , after just sitting in a box , layered between paper towels , in a dry Arizona garage .

What could it hurt? I think it's a good idea, I would anneal before I did anything else to it.

Fellows... YES, these cases are brand NEW. Never fired, etc..... I think I'll (re) anneal them and go from there

I get frequent neck splits with ~20 year old .223 WSSM brass. I can't yet find the new Hornady load to resupply my stash....

Ive worked with lc92 and 93 i bought around 2000. New but pulled cases. Ive run them just enough through a sizing die just to make sure the necks/mouths are fit for holding a bullet. It hasn't been an issue for me this way.

I anneal everything! For consistency, I want my brass annealed to whatever hardness the AMP produces. That way, I can be sure of thebrass every time.
