New Howa mini build 20 Grendel

I had a Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel. I put it in the Oryx chassis. Its a great stock for the money but it didn't fit me very well. I had the scope raised a lot higher than I usually like a scope to set above the barrel and the cheek piece as low as it would go and still fought it for a comfortable cheek weld on the stock. I ended up selling the rifle. If I had to do it over I would choose a different style stock.
The Oryx - one size -fits nobody. Horrible. If they made the XRS for the Mini.... I went with the LSS Mk 1, but it's not a rifle I use much I only bought it as it was the only rifle available in Grendel, at the time - post the commies self loading ban in NZ. I should get it sorted with a new barrel etc.

I agree with you on the Oryx. Its a nice looking stock but that's about as far as it goes. I sold my factory stock or I would have put it back original. The rifle shot great, very accurate with different loads but the stock took all the fun out of it.

I have a couple minis now. 6.5 Grendel in a B&C stock and a 6 ARC in the stockys ultralite with a carbon barrel. While the B&C is definitely clunkier it is far more comfortable to shoot than the stockys one. I have mounted an ARCA rail on both and shoot coyotes from a tripod with them and to me the B&C is the better set up for that.

Do you have a favourite between those two calibers?

The Grendel for sure! Coyotes hate those 85gr Sierras. The 6ARC I am just so so on but that's probably because I have a BR, Dasher and GT for it to compete with.

At this point I think my br and gt beat the arc. I have a very nice 6 arc ar-15 that shoots awesome. But the whole varget is too slow and I really don't like leverevolution. Keeps me from using it

Ordered sep 23. Showed up today. Just waiting on the barrel now.

The Boyd’s are really ice for the money and I love the shape of the pro varmint. I run that stock in a few rifles. Boyds sticks usually take some minor inletting and fitting to be perfect, but it’s nothing difficult.

Here’s my Howa mini and my Sako A7 in Boyd’s Pro varmint stocks.

They all beat the ARC for sure. The only reason I even own the ARC is because I helped a buddy out when he needed a little cash. Mine really likes the Shooters World Precision powder. Very similar to Varget.
