New house, new reloading room! Bench, shelf design questions

My new loading bench is very similar but the room is only 10x12. Three pictures are needed to see the entire room. Still have one more shelving unit to add to the one bench. It will be the entire wall. I have a shelf under the main bench that runs the entire length of all three benches. Adds tons of storage keeping things off the top benches
I like it, but I'd dump the fluorescent lighting.

Loading rooms are like rifles. Everyone has their own idea of what is proper. You have to build to your own likes, needs, and available space. With that said, I don't see one picture of a gun safe. We have a large gunsafe totally enclosed in a closet in our room. The bad guy would have to dismantle the closet in order to remove the safe. My two cents worth on a couple items is: While carpet is nice and cushy to catch that dropped case, it's tougher to glide around while you're parked in a rolling office chair. Carpet if you like for cushiness but get a chair pad for under the rolling chair. You can also get rubber floor pads similar to what you find in a horse barn for flooring. As mentioned, scrap the florescent lights; they play havoc with electronics scales and equipment. I don't care for clamps for the loading presses and powder measure stands. Mess around with them for a while but plan on bolting them down when you're sure of where you want them. I have to learn how to take pictures and post them. Then again, my room may not fill your bill.

Hey guys, moved into a new house, officially a homeowner. Built a new bench in the basement. Got a couple sheets of formica on the way to cover it.

I was thinking about planing a 2x6 down and routering the bottom edge and staining so I would have a nice corner on the front edge of the bench all the way around. Then maybe a routered 1x4 on the top, for a backsplash. What do you think?

I don't know if I want pegboard or not, but definitely shelves in the corners at a 45* angle. Any and all ideas appreciated. Going with "blue storm" formica.
I think your new area is terrific!
You'll be busy for awhile with trial and error for sure. Where is the mini fridge with the beer going to be placed? A friend has his laptop handy for research and small radio for old time blues and soft jazz and a lock on the door!
Regards
J
