Reloading room re-design

yeah.. i like this

I hate corner storage. Personally, I would run one counter to the wall and have a space before the next one started. If it's a multipurpose type shop, corner cabinet seems like a real good spot to put an air compressor with sound insulation and run plumbing along the walls.

Me to i tried them and my solution is i dont use them anymore. I have an island bench now. i like it alot better

What in theeeee hell! How did i time warp back this far..oh boy.
Haha
I did a google search for (reloading room powder storage ideas) and was telleported here.
I absolutely love the first pgoto Kurz posted.
But..but. not sure if i would crawl around on the floor digging for stuff. I like the horse shoe work area. Its the best especially with a rolly chair..
The reloading room with a rolly chair would be like a command center on a space ship...tell the wife to exit the headquarters hahaha

Sadly, I never got around to doing this project. This, that and something else came up. Now I've got a stack of honey-do's longer than my arm queued up in front of any 'me' projects.

That said, the general direction I've been leaning more recently has been towards an 'open' bench design - just a top over a frame, with legs either going straight down or angled back towards the base of the wall. Rolling tool cabinets nested underneath where appropriate, and open - for leg room when working at the bench - otherwise.

I have no cabinets in my loading room. Just open shelves so I can see what I am looking for. Lots of room under thView attachment 1709620View attachment 1709621e wall mounted bench for stools, leg room, trash can, vacume cleaner.
this is just how i make my benches. no cabinets or drawers only shelves so i can see everything and things still get lost somehow. my latest bench though is a 4’x8’ island. its also 42” tall. i can walk around it and work from all sides. shelves are near to. its my fave so far. i still have this disease that causes me to put to much stuff on my benches, i have given up trying to fix it.

I don't know if this is helpful or not for your corner project but I too hate storing stuff deep & have to see what's behind something or move stuff to get to it. I cut 4" PVC pipe into sections & glued them together like a wine rack. Labeled the lids.

That's... like a starter set. I'd have to go floor to ceiling to store mine like that. Then there's the 8lb jugs...

Although... it got me kind of half-way thinking about one of those gravity-feed can dispensers :p

Those are pretty cool.

After my last shop I decided I'd not do open storage again. Bases all have drawers. When I wanted a corner unit I made that my workspace with room on either side for 'extras'.

I do have one of those rolling tool drawer units, but, it rarely gets rolled around, just too heavy even with good wheels and a level surface. It is nice once a year to roll it out so I can clean behind it :) It is nice to have all those drawers. Cost is the biggest issue.

But, if you can find some surplus kitchen base cabinets (look at your local Restore) you can add those wire basket drawers. I installed them in our kitchen and they work great. My current workbench is three base cabinets ($40 ea) and a solid core door top. I also got some overhead kitchen cabinets for about the same price. No, they don't match the bases but they work well. Restores are the outlets for Habitat for Humanity. Lots of construction stuff, use appliances, doors windows, furniture, etc. Even some nice tools if you get lucky.
