new heart valve

Congratulations on the successful surgery, that is great to hear.

My wife is 34 yrs old, she has a connective tissue disorder called Marfan Syndrome. Because of this she has a mitral valve prolapse with regurgitation, and will eventually need a new valve. We're keeping our fingers crossed that there are more advances and by the time she needs a new valve the replacement will last even longer than they do now. We've been told that once she has a replacement, it'll likely only last about 10 years.
I think she will be okay with what I was told about the new valves they have now. I got a new one that is a new type and it appears they keep coming up with better ones all the time. This new one is supposed to last longer. More like the ones they have to crack your chest open to put in. Of course who knows at this point, but I hope your wife gets the best one they can figure out before she needs it. The latest upgrade is some new coating that keeps anything from sticking to it, I was told before I went under.

I got a new aortic heart valve on Tues and came home yesterday. They have come a long way and are getting better all the time. A borescope device went up one leg through my artery and the new valve went up my left leg through my other artery They come in four sizes depending on how large your femoral artery is. So you don't worry about getting a new aortic valve if you need one. They also last longer now. I waited 2 years for one, so I really needed one, I could not think straight sometimes due to a lack of O2, but they wanted to wait for as long as I good manage until it became severe. I never thought I would feel this good again. Thanks to the Man upstairs. I'm blessed it went so well. I definitely don't feel like I'm 78 anymore.
No “Zipper Club” for you…. At TMC or Mayo Clinic in Phoenix?
