new guy from western pa

Welcome!! I'm also in Bridgeville. I did the McDonald Groundhog Shoot a couple of times last year and look forward to participating more this year.

I'm originally from Brookline. Have family all over Pittsburgh. South hills mostly. I grew up on McDonald shooting range. My grandfather, Cy Pilarsky, was a member during the 80's. Used to walk there from his house. Used to shoot groundhogs from the bench in the morning, then fish in the kids lake. (I don't know about now, but back then only the kiddos where permitted to fish in the pond). Some of the best memories of my life..
In Virginia now. Still get back once or twice a year

I did that too...with my cousin Carl Jorn and his friend at the time, Eddie Buccili. I remember shooting 3 inch steel plates set on a rail at 500 meters with a 222. That was when I was in my 20's though. And trying to shoot a round through the hole in the sawmill blade target hung way out there. Great memories. Great club and what I loved about it...never any booze. Wanna do that, go to a bar. So it was all about buddies and shootin, not buddies and beer. I didn't care for the idea of beer then, so having all those "old guys" there with so much gunny knowledge was heaven. I think they warped me!
