New Display in the Trophy Room.

Picked up a baseball bat shadow box display case and put this together today. I've had these items for a long time and just never seemed to get around to it. Had a ton of rain today so I finally got it done.

It's a 1970 Japanese Tasco Target scope #705 in 6-18x50mm. No internal adjustments, uses external adjustable rings. Has a recoil buffer spring like the Unertl scopes. Metal screw in lens caps. Front AO. It's ungodly long at about 27". I found an original flyer advertisement for the Tasco Target scopes from 1970 and a complete Tasco collimator boresighting set from the same era to put with it. My grandfather gave me this scope many years ago before he passed. Nice to finally have it on display.

Nice trophy room as well! These are actually very good scopes, in my opinion. My father has one on his Win. 52C, and it works great.

Thanks for the compliment on the trophies. I'm working on filling that wall in the picture. There are trophys on the other walls too (antelope, couple deer, and a turkey rug). One of the walls will soon include the 201" mule deer I shot this last fall. I expect it back from the taxidermist sometime around Christmas.

The scope has really good glass, but it's not very practical for modern shooting applications, especially with the sheer size of it. Just a really cool piece of shooting history that my Grandfather used in 22LR shooting competitions many years ago. I have the bolt action 22LR rifle it came on as well. I use the rifle all the time because it's still extremely accurate. Different scope on it now of course.

I used the collimator one time when I first bought it. It actually works extremely well. Dont use it tho because its a little more time consuming than the tried and true method I use of pulling the bolt and looking down the bore at a target.

It was the first badger I mounted. 27" long. I just mounted her in a similar state I shot her. She was just calm looking at me at about 90 yards. 204 ruger 39gr Sierra BK went straight into the front middle of her chest with no exit so no damage. Not sure on suggestions. Your taxidermist will have different forms to choose from.

I've got a huge bone pile out in the garage. One that I probably should have mounted and some others that I should have at least put on a plaque.

Wow! Learn something new every day. I wasn't aware they were in New Mexico. They make a beautiful trophy. You just need a high ceiling. If you connect, good to have your taxidermist make the horns removable. Good Luck!

I shot this one in the Northern Cape, South Africa in 2013. They used horsemen to drive them to us where we waited in foxholes. IIRC, this shot was 175 yards. I used a Pac Nor barrel Savage SML in 45 caliber and a 200 grain SST.

Nice Oryx I think they are one of the coolest looking animals. I have high vaulted ceilings in my living room upstairs so there's plenty of room for an Oryx. Just gotta get it approved by the wife
