New chamber extraction issue

just chamber a rifle to a
6.5- 300wby. When I fire it , it is hard to extract. Shiny marks right in front of belt on case. Any ideal what would cause this.

What kind of rifle , new brass , what reamer , what dies , what's your primer look like ?
Pressure issues , how much of the case is out of the barrel , in other words how deep is your chamber and who chambered it ?
What kind of brass ? What was your load ?
I shot the 7-300 Weatherby , still do .

It's a rem 700. factory wby 130gr. New reamer, primer did go into firing pin hole some. I chambered it. Used a go gauge. The shiny goes most the way around.

Sound like the chamber wasn't polished after chambering .
WBY uses a belt and it is not uncommon for you to get a tight spot .

Polished it up with some 400 then 600 and it will bolt a fired case ,were it was real hard todo before. Will shoot it tomorrow and see. But I think we have solved the problem... Thanks

I have seen burs raised from the reamer cutting the belted section. It creases a bur just in front of the belt. Seen a few new remingtons like this...

Is it a savage style nut barrel ? If so remember , headspace can be correct but gap space ( lack of a better word ) can be dangerous . I call gap space the distance from the bolt nose to the rear of the barrel .
Good luck . Keep us posted .

Ps gap space should be bolt nose depth plus .005 . I usually cut my barrel breech at a 176 deg included angle , not at 180

Thinning cases will show a ring just ahead of the bolt. These cartidges should be sized so shoulder is fit to the chamber. If the shoulder is set back and you rely on the belt for headspacing your brass is likely to have case head separation.
