New Build

Guys I am new to your forum and since I got well from cancer treatment I would like to build me a new rifle to compete with, I shoot in the F class with a savage 12F T/R in .308 and won my class last year before I got sick, So with that said what is the best gun to build what cal. I was thanking about a 30 BR. or 6.5x284 something that would not be a nightmare to build bullets for. Thanks for all your help...

.284 or a .284 shehane , with out doubt one of the most competive rounds on the market.
shooting 175/180 grian pills pushed along with H4831sc .
that will be hard to beat at any range .

PS good luck with your health in the years to come.

Yancey............sounds like you want to buck the trend and switch from F/TR into the F(O) money race. Success this past Summer on the Canadian scene has been with 7mms. If I was starting from scratch without having a truckload of brass from other projects I would go with a straight .284 Win. Excellent long range cartridge.

The straight 284 is good but the 7mm RSAUM is coming on strong especially for those looking for 3000 fps with the 180 grain bullets, not to mention it's one of the most accurate cartridges out there.

Thanks guys for the info and I am starting from the ground up. The .284 win you think is the way to go? What rifle would you start with? I wont to get the right gun the first time.. Will brass be a problem or reloading?? Head me down the right road for this type of rifle. Thaks guys...
