Thinking about a new build from scratch:
26 inch Bartlein barrel / 1 in 8 twist
A5 McMillian with cheek riser
Jewel trigger set at 1 pound
Surgeon long action / w 20 MOA base
Alpha / AICS magazine or similar

What would be the best freebore measurement if I were to use Bergers, ELD -X / M , Ballistic tips, and Sierra's fitted in the magazine? This rifle will be for bench shooting and long range hunting. I like to seat the bullets close to the lands.

What would be the best custom action for a repeater rifle besides the Surgeon ?

Make up a dummy round with the bullet seated to where you want them and take it to your GS and they'll be able to match the freebore to your dummy round. Make sure to leave yourself a bit of room to chase the lands as your barrel gets rounds through it though.

I don't know about twist any more but make sure it has a fast enough twist for the sierra 153 grain and the Berger 153.5 and 156 bullets. You may not want to shoot them now but some day maybe.
