New Brass prep service offering.

One other thought. Most of the opinions so far are from Short range guys
I fall into this bunch as well and would not prep my brass with the idod
that said the long-range BR and Fclass crowd might be into this method
so it all depends on your target customer base

very cool, i have yet to hear about that process for fireforming.
I think I am the one who started doing this.

I took one of my 6BR barrels and simply ran a .330 reamer in the neck. When you shoot a fully loaded 6BR round, out comes what looks like a fully formed Factory Lapua 30BR case, if there was such an animal.

One result of this is the case retains most of the original 6BR length, so my reamer, listed as the 30BR Schmidt, has a trim to length of 1.545.

I've shot more 20 plus X's fireforming at 100 yard matches with mandrel necked up cases. I've done it both ways and I can't tell the difference on paper between either way of doing it. JMO.

There is always the possibility that the OP might learn something.
There is also the possibility that this education could be made through PM instead of 3 pages of putting the guy out of business before he started.
Beyond that, I won't even begin to discuss how off topic this thread has become.

This isnt off topic. Still talking about brass prep

On the contrary, these posts were very informative. The OP was misinformed about what is required for a fair portion of his potential market base. Better to find out up front, than to send product only to get disgruntled customers.

Say what you want if it makes you feel better. This was not a thread about proper brass prep. It was a thread from a man starting a brass prep service for those wanting what he offered, which when you do a search in this forum was requested multiple times.

Start a new thread then. There were a number of posts on this site requesting exactly what the OP was offering. Doesn't matter if you agree with the process or not. Brian has sold a number of his IDOD machines and I doubt that today will be his last. If you have an issue with the IDOD, start a thread accordingly. To piss all over a mans business is just in bad taste.

Would have been better to place this thread in the classifieds. By putting it in the open discussion forum it gives readers the impression he is looking for comments.

I would like to thank everyone wishing me success on my business venture. I see that while doing my research I should have asked for ideas on what equipment would be ideal for the purpose of a neck turning business. Hind sight!

I started this thread to offer brass turning services using an AutoDod and it has been turned into a discussion on the shortcomings of the AutoDod. I understand where you are coming from and I don’t think you’re doing anything other than trying to enlighten the readers, however having that discussion on my thread has about guaranteed that my $3000 plus investment has been wasted (still a better record than my market investments).

Not everyone has or can afford a full-size lathe or have the knowledge and ability to manufacture their own tooling. Why mention that there are already systems out there that can be purchased at a reasonable cost that will do the job as you think it should be done and then not tell us what those systems are?

Since the purpose of this thread has died a horrible and bloody death, I’m dead serious in asking what system/systems are out there that properly turns necks? I would like my business to succeed and hopefully it’s not too late to ask for advice.

Thank you,
Chris
Chris,
You did not "waste" your investment. I sent you a PM that should help.

Cheers,
John

When originally posting this I did so in the discussion area and in the classifieds. I posted in both places as everyone doesn't read the classifieds and I hoped to reach more people. The classifieds post has had 5 reply's, 2 of which were mine, 1 from a friend actually wishing me luck and 2 from Jackie who sent a pm requesting prices and who also obviously has/had no intention of ever using my services. That classified post is now buried 15 pages deep and unless I keep sending it to the top will be buried where no one can easily find it. However, in hind sight being buried 15 pages deep in the classifieds would probably do less damage to my business than many of the replies in this thread.

There have been comments about maybe I can learn something, you can rest assured that I have learned quite a bit and while some of it has actually been helpful to me and the service I'm offering, some of it not so much. I'll freely admit that I have much to learn, unfortunately I don't have 30 years of experience and already know everything.

I have no intention of closing my business or selling my AutoDod and will continue to improve and search for the proper market for my services.

I do really appreciate those who are actually wishing me luck, and the few who have sent PM's offering help, guidance and assistance.

Have a great day,
Chris

Do you have a website? When I say the first post and it said OCD brass LLC, I did a google search and got Alpha brass they have a product called OCD brass, i assume that that is not you? Their OCD is Optimal Cartridge Design, whatever that is.
