New Berger manual?

Does anyone know when Berger might be releasing a new version of their reloading manual? I'd like to purchase one but would like to wait for V.2, if I remember right the current V.1 was first published in 2012. Seems like a long wait to release an updated book.

The time between the release of the 5th and 6th editions of the Sierra reloading manual was about 16 years, so version 1 of the Berger manual is still fresh!

Seriously though, there is something called the Osborne Effect which suggests that firms shouldn't prematurely pre-announce new versions of product, lest they inadvertently harm sales of current product.

I have no idea when a new manual is coming out ,but I do know that if you have a question about any of their newer offerings that are not in volume one they will be happy to help out.

Yes, I agree with both of the above statements. I didn't realize it was normal for it to take that long between updates. I just have this sinking feeling that if I buy it the new one will come out the next week.

I always thought the Berger manual is quickload data. They never come right out and say, but have a chapter promoting it. I "surmised" they used SAAMI minimum chamber specs and case capacity to come up with such low loads. There's no mention of test barrels or guns or actions. I'm not really looking for another one of them. I am ready for a new Hornady manual. Cash in hand.

Why not call Berger? They might give you the answer.
Berger absolutely WILL help you on the phone. I have spoken with them on load not in the manual for CFE-223 and the bullet I was using and they looked up the bullet, game me a very close equivalent from a different manufacturer that WAS listed in the manual and said to use this data.

Whether they are conservative or not in their load date, doesn't matter much. Take their starting point and do your own testing (using their six shot testing procedure referenced at the site).

Call the Berger legal department. They will have the answer. Just my two cents .. Tommy Mc
