NEW Berger 205 elite hunter for FTR

I’ll definitely be giving these a try with n140 in the future I hope ! I’m loving the what looks like a tangent ogive on a bullet with a high BC. Looks like an improvement on the juggernaut from what the picture shows. Berger also states that it was designed to fit with magazines on hunting rifles so hopefully will be able to work with FTR guys with usually less desirable freebore for an FTR rifle shooting 200 grains .

This bullet is nearly identical to the published dimensional numbers for the 208gr. It's going to need a lot of freebore.

Same BTO, nose, bearing surface, and a longer boat tail than the 208.

The 20x is still the best option for a short freebore.

If I was guessing w/o holding one to compare i'd guess it's the same bullet as the 208 but with a HP. The process Berger has developed for "pointing" their new target bullets pulls the lead core up into the tip and the meplat is filled and more closed than a conventional HPBT bullet. Probably not to conducive to expansion on game, but I can see where a more conventional core that has 3gr less lead leave a cavity and would probably make a hunting bullet.

(the above is just my supposing on the WWW with zero actual data so take it for what it's worth)

These are the various dimensions published by Berger at their website. I'm guessing that one of the two OAL values in the red boxes must be off by a substantial margin. As was already noted above, the 205 and 208 segment dimensions are very similar. For F-TR, this is not the bullet I'd choose first, as either the 200.20X or 208 would be better suited for that purpose.

Another .308 bullet for an already saturated market. Yawn. A couple of bullet options in .25 Cal would sure make my heart happy. An 85-90gr Hybrid hunter, 120-125gr Hybrid, and a 130-135 EOL would be pretty sweet.

Already shot the 208 . Me-likeee , lots . The 200.20x's seem to vary from lot to lot . A little to much for my taste , but I do use a lot of 200gr Hybrids for 1,000 . What ? Trying to pass off another lame-assed hunting bullet to F shooters ? Like we don't have enough of a premium selection already . Can't find a good "Target" bullet for "F" class ? Take up Bowling , or Golf , or Tennis .
