new barrel on a 40X

Just sent it to Lilja to barrel. Benchmark also does a good job chambering, I shot a sporter once that was smithed by benchmark and was supprised how well it shot.

I thought rimfire barrels were different than center fire. I have a friend that worked for Lee 6 rifle company. He does my center fire barrels, but he does not have a mill to do the extractor cuts, too bad. Thanks for the reply, nilebartram

Have it coned . No extractor cut needed . Makes it easy .

So when you coned the barrel is it glued to the receiver? nilebartram
I used Loc-Tite 609 for my Anschutz 54, and would personally do that to other slip-fit receivers.
Every person is different but if I were planning to cut one on one of my 40-X rifles, it would be the last step in the lathe.

It's installed the way it was if it wasn't coned . I mean if the receiver was threaded and the orig barrel was threaded then it would be threaded .
Coned barrels only eliminate the extractor and bolt nose cuts needed . Bolt nose cuts are only needed on some actions ( Springfield 1922 m-1 m-2 )

Have a RFBR specialist do it. Gorham is doing great work. Gordon Eck in the east is also building a bunch of winning rifles.
