New barrel and it starts all over again

Well looks like a got to start all over again. Just got the new barrel for my 6mm Creed. Thought that it was shot out and I was correct.

The old barrel was not giving me the accuracy I once had a 600 and 1000 yds. Measured the jam of the bullets and found that it measured 2.922" to jam point

New barrel came today (same company) and my Jam length is 2.777".

I guess .145" throat erosion is expected after 1000+ rounds down the pipe.

Going to keep a closer eye on this barrel as I really didnt inspect the old barrel but a few times.

Hurry up spring time so I can start the testing all over again...

If you have your own reamer you just tweak what you had on the last one if at all.... If I had that much advancement .145 I would be looking for a better round that was a little easier things... how fast do you run them? A 6x47 with a 105 is around 3200..... jim

Waiting on a new to me barrel in 257 Roberts. Donor gun on lay-a-way.
Reaming to 257 Roberts AI.
Prepping Stevens 200 rebarreld to 250 Savage for some serious coyote hunting.
75gr Sierra HP Varmint with Alliant Varmint powder.
Waiting for snow to stop to test loads.

A lot of your throat growth can be affected by how hot you load and how hot you shoot the barrel. 1,000 rounds for one guy might be 1,500-2,000 for someone who doesn’t shoot long strings of fire!

What long strings of fire to you ? In in a 1000 Br. heavy gun you may pump out 20 rounds in 6-8 minuets with sighters and record rounds.... jim

I d call 20 rounds a long string of fire! Especially if a larger, overbore case. ( I believe OP started with a 6 CM which is a fairly large cartridge for a 6mm; your 6 BR not so much) Now 20 rounds is relatively a short string of fire compared to say a minute of full auto 556!!
Bottomline is different folks have different games and uses but the common denominator is if you shoot any cartridge to the point where a barrel becomes a branding iron that one will “go away” quicker than a slowly shot, hunting type situation.

I see no gain in these larger 6mm cases in a velocity over the Dasher and BRX and maintain a good accuracy level. They do not agg. with them above 3100 and a 105. You may get a small one once awhile but they are not consistent and it would depend your level of accuracy you think is needed for your game. I tried the 6x47, SLR and you burn a lot of powder to get a 100 fps over the BR Imp cases but less accuracy.... jim
