New AR15

J&T distributing, also known as double star. Rock River is also good. My AR was built with a stripped RRA lower and an upper half kit from J&T. I've got over 3000 trouble free rounds through mine. I've had it for four years.
White Oak doesn't build an AR for home defense?
No, they don't. They might build an upper, but not an AR-15.
If John hasn't started, he will soon offer fully machined lower receivers from billet.
Suggest the OP buy a rifle that doesn't even exist? Classic....
Doesn't the upper determine the use?
But the OP asked about a rifle, not an upper. You're recommending that he buy an AR-15 from WOA, but without a lower, you don't have a rifle.
You can reconfigure lower in several different ways.
Again, from WOA?

You love to argument in your coy little "Who? Me?", "I don't understand your post" style, but are lacking in substance to back it up.

I guess I don't understand your repeated recommendation to buy a rifle that doesn't exist. ::)

I love know it all people like you. You're fun to play with. If you doubt what I posted, talk to John. I visited with him last week.

"You love to argument" Shouldn't that be argue? Now after all of this, check with John and get back on the forum.

If I wanted another AR or a lower I would get it now before the next surge of panic buying and escalating prices.

At this time we are not selling lowers or complete uppers. There is really nothing to do to the lower other than drop a Geissele trigger in it. The upper can be shipped directly to you.

Thank you.

Hi-

I was directed to you as a source for a quality built AR-15.

I'm interested in one of your service rifles, but don't see anything other than uppers on your website.

Can I order a complete rifle (to be delivered to my local FFL)?

Thanks!"

Doug, It would be helpful if you mentioned what mission you had for the AR. In the meantime,

Its going to be a target/varmint gun. So I've went ahead and bought a stripped lower from Anderson and was think about getting their upper receive with the RF-85 coating only then getting a Wilson combat 20" super snipe heavy SS barrel. But the rest I'm still trying to decide on. My original budget kinda went out the window...lol. But I'll have pretty much what I want in the first one.

Cold Bore,
Get on the phone and ask John and while you are at it, ask if he spoke to me about it last week!

As others have noted, the White Oak uppers are a good option. I have one, a 24" varmint barrel, coupled to a DPMS lower and Geissele trigger and accuracy is excellent with various weight bullet and powder combinations. With the going rate on most lowers, you could still stay within your budget with that brand.

I compete in F-AR with a WOA upper. They are built with Wilson blanks, or you can have white oak precision make you one with a Krieger blank. Reason I like them, uppers are built well, bolt carrier is the heavier M16, and hand guards work very well. Id recommend a 24" barrel, my 20" barrel tops out at 2650fps with a 77gr Sierra, I'd rather another 100fps for longer range...

Brownells has a sale on an Aero Precision 1:7, 16 " melonited AR for $560 or so - just add stock and free float hand guard and your all set (and any other goodies of course).

Id check out the new DPMS Gen 2 chassies!!
AR15-AR10 hybrid setup
Basically a 308 in a AR15 weight for a rifle.

Thanks guys for all the help and info. I after looking around and doing my research I ended up getting a complete upper from White Oak Armament. They had what I was looking for and then also ordered my buttstock, buffer and bullet button last night.

Thanks again doug

I'm sure the WOA will be a worthwhile purchase. Good Luck and have fun.

Got my AR built. Started with a Anderson lower with a ALG lower kit and ALG combat trigger from WOA, WOA varmint/target complete upper with 20" SS 1.8t heavy barrel. Also a magpul CTR mil spec stock and mi spec buffer tube. Topped it off with a sightmark 4-16 triple duty MDD scope and Warner mounts. Here's a pic of the finished product.

Looks good! ;D Good Luck! Down the road, you may want to consider a trigger with a lighter pull weight. Geissele SSA-E would be a good choice.

Thank you. It has 4lb spring in it now. So I'll see how it goes with it. The only differnce between there standard trigger and combat is the boron treatment to the combat trigger otherwise they were the same. Both triggers styles were polished so they didn't have a gritty feel. At least that's what they told me.

Looking at getting a AR15. Don't no much about brands or quality of the different brands. So looking for some help on brands and their quality. Not looking to spend a fortune either looking between $500-900.

Thanks Doug
Spend more time than money on research and build your own. Im new to the benchrest game, but have built many ARs. You can certainly do far better building for yourself, you will be able to buy higher end parts that matter. One of the best builds i did, i bought and upper and lower classified as "Blem" or Blemised. Mine were purely finish defects. No functional errors, guaranteed by manufacturer. Since i was cerakoting it did not matter. Picked them up at a huge discount. There are many benefits to building your own, exactly what you want, the unique factor, better parts, and a FULL understanding of how the system is assembled and functions. I'd go for the build, you will learn a lot and end up with a better product.

A good example, where i live you can buy an S&W for 600-700. This is lower end equipment. Standard barrel, horrible factory two stage trigger, cheap charging handle, and another thing you run into (not sure if it is the case with the S&W) is that many parts on the lower end systems are not mil spec, they come as what is referred to as commercial, and have different dimensions and build quality. I recently finished a project, billet lower, complete upper, premium BCG, match Mcgowen barrel, cmc trigger, and custom muzzle brake, all for just over 1k. Like a previous poster said, pay once, cry once, but if you do it the right way and shop around, you can find the right sales and put it together with great parts like the one i outlined. I did that one in .20 Practical, and will print sub moa all day at 100.

As said before, it all depends on what you want to do with it. If you just want a 223 for plinking at the range now and then, a standard off the shelf will do you just fine, mine is set up for gopher's in Montana, if you wanted a competition gun, that is a whole other story and lots more cash!
