New AR15

Looking at getting a AR15. Don't no much about brands or quality of the different brands. So looking for some help on brands and their quality. Not looking to spend a fortune either looking between $500-900.

Thanks Doug

I like Rock River Arms for a quality mid priced rifle.

You can also build one for under 600 dollars. Buy stripped lower, your stock kit of choice, lower parts kit and a complete upper in the barrel configuration of your choice.

Stag makes some really good ar's. I have a model 6? I believe, with a 24in stainless barrel. Very accurate for the money.

I have a Rock River plain Jane carbine that shoots 1 1/2-2 inches at 100 with an Acog. And factory ammo. I have a Stag Model six with the heavy 24 in. Barrel that shoots 1/2 -3/4 with my hand loads.

Take a look at Radical out of Texas. Well made rifles at very fair prices. Great people to deal with.

I would build one. For the $$$ you could put one together with a nice match grade barrel and get much better accuracy than your typical $500-600 cheap AR.

My first questions would be... what do you want it for, and what do you plan to do with it?

After that, we can give you a better idea.

Most any of the "names" will be fine, but some build more specialized versions. Example.... The White Oak guns recommended above are superb target guns, bit you may be better served with something else if you're looking for home defense.

Your budget will buy you a ton of different options, help us point you in a more specific direction.

It wouldn't be a "problem".

But when most people go looking at WO stuff, they are usually a High Power competitor.

"Welcome to White Oak Precision. It is our desire to provide the best quality products and services to the accuracy minded shooter. While our primary focus is AR-15 type rifles for the highpower rifle competitor, the same quality and attention to detail can provide you with a highly accurate varmint or informal target upper."

I'm not seeing much in the home defense field on their website.

And with a $500 to $900 budget, I doubt the OP is in the WO market anyway, even the Armament side of the business..

Just buy a Bushmaster, and make liberals heads explode (not literally...).

Since they seem to always want to call out "a high powered Bushmaster assault rifle" in every media hit piece they put out, might as well go straight for their jugular and buy one. 8)

I don't understand your post. White Oak doesn't build an AR for home defense? So, I need to trade mine in for a Bushmaster?

Not in his budget.

Wasn't aware that John offered complete rifles either.

Shoot, or trade, whatever you want.

You're looking for an argument, look somewhere else.

If John hasn't started, he will soon offer fully machined lower receivers from billet. Doesn't the upper determine the use? You can reconfigure lower in several different ways.
I would spend a couple hundred dollars or so to get a quality piece.

Agreed, and I built my last match rifle for not much more than the budget in this post. I know that I saved a bit by building it myself, however someone so inclined could get the agi video.
