New 6mm 110 gr SMK upcoming

Nut, if I read correctly all your testing was done at 100 yards. In the past I have had similar results testing bullets at 100 yards, but when it tested the same load/bullets at 600 yards I got much different results. Some bullets that shot like crap at 100 performed well at 600. It may be just my gun, but I would try some at 600 before you get rid of them. For what it is worth .
Good luck.
Bullets which diverge at close range don't somehow re-converge to produce better groups at longer ranges. Even though this urban myth is repeated quite often, it has been proven to be a false concept.

For more information on this subject, including extensive testing data, check out Bryan Litz's new book. I believe he is still offering a hansom reward for anyone who can demonstrate what you say your gun can do. Perhaps there's some money in for you.

Yep the 6x47L IMP with RL16. That was one of my lower nodes at 3080. I didn't chrono the high node, but I'm guessing 3300ish and it's compressed at the high node. Don't need to kill the barrel any faster... High 40's most of the day. The 110's actually have less bearing surface than the 107SMK. Looking forward to working more with the 110.

Does anyone have the dimensions of them? Bearing surface, boat tail length, etc.

I wish I would have saved the targets. Next time
Thanks

My remembrance was a bit off; there is no cash reward, but Mr. Litz did offer a free trip to his range along with hotel and travel expenses, etc. Here is exactly what he posted a while back:

"The Applied Ballistics 'Shoot Thru Target' Challenge
I'm inviting any shooter who has a rifle which exhibits non-linear dispersion to the Applied Ballistics Laboratory in Michigan to demonstrate the effect. I'll pay your travel and hotel stay (If you successfully demonstrate the effect, I'll even pay your *return* travel as well ;) ) The objective is to produce a repeatable example of this phenomena so it can be studied and hopefully we can learn what's going on, and if it's how bullets really fly, or not."

You'll have to contact him directly to see if the offer still stands. If it does, you might enjoy an expense paid mini-vacation in Michigan. I'd wait until late Spring or Summer if I were you.

Brian Litz's argument is that bullets dont stabilize or go to sleep thus shooting smaller moa groups at longer ranges. However, positive compensation has been proven and does happen.

Keep in mind even though it appears I will be able to get them to group, with a 1:8" twist I will have a diminished BC. Might end up running 105 RDFs depending on my results at 600. I will try to get out this week if I can get the dang SD wind to stop.

463 meters density altitude. Forgot to change to feet setting on Kestrel

I don't use a Kestrel so not familiar with how DA relates. Seems pilots would understand though, but I keep my head out of the clouds... mostly.

Would you clue me in to what distance you shot those groups please? Maybe then I can work out how DA relates.

I tried these bullets last week in a .25 moa rifle in 243. It has a 7.5 twist brux barrel on it. The best i got at 200 yds was a 1" and the worst was 5". That was with 2 different powders. The LaRadar said 3-3150fps with extreme spreads below 15fps. Everything worked well except for the groups. Seems like they just don't like my barrel.
