VHA???

Boy, o Boy so much for staying on subject!!! RW All I know is that over the years there was a lot of good information in the Varmint Hunter magazine and when I first started reading it in the early 1990's it started me on the path of accurate shooting and really opened my world of accurate shooting even if LP Brezny got to be on every other page!!, RW

Amen! Good post! The VHA magazine started me on the path to accurate rifles and reloading over 20 years ago and has been the only magazine I have ever read from cover to cover.

Real loss to me also. It was a "cover to cover" read for me.

As for the mentally ill people here who got into 22 ammo and politics, you are just a sad example of so many mentally ill people allowed to live in our American society.

Sad also we don't have a moderator with the guts to throw all of you off the forum.

Im with Captain here I've reported this twice and these 2 clowns are still going at it. The magazine was a cover to cover for me also. Im sad to see it go.

How many lost their jobs?

people, please re read one of the original posts I made. I do NOT KNOW that they did go out of business. I was just trying to see if amongst all the suppliers, advertisers, and members that read this board daily could confirm or dispel the initial report that I saw on another board. So to ask or answer that question just yet is a bit of a leap. ::) WD

Thank you. I did see that but with all the other posts I thought more information had come out.

Did anyone actually call them Monday to find out?

As of Tuesday morning, 8:21 AM East Coast time, the phone is still disconnected, PLUS the website has been taken down, and the facebook page was taken down.

This is not a case of a company that had a rough bump in the road, and is trying to hang on...

... these bastards knew the end was coming, and were selling subscriptions and renewals to the very last minute before they folded their tent and ran.

I hope they get what they deserve.

Yep, I bet we don't even get a thank you note or a Christmas card. There should be something that could be done about this. It is near piracy. :-\ WD

I wouldn't hold my breath awaiting any resolution, but one may choose to vent some frustration by filing a complaint with the BBB and/or the SD office of the Attorney General.

PS: If you paid by credit card, contact the issuing bank. Even though my VHA two year renewal was over one year ago, my bank issued me a courtesy credit equal to approx 60% of the issues still due me. Obviously, I would rather continue to receive the magazine, but one plays the hand he is dealt as best he can.

On a thread at VHA:

The Editor, John Anderson, is a very good friend of mine. He and his wife Claudia stopped by to visit on their way through to Montana Saturday. He said a few days ago that Jeff and Jackie Rheborg called everyone in and said effective immediately, the Varmint Hunter Association has ceased to exist. No other explanations were given.

Too bad. It was one of the last good magazines available in print. The good people of VHA gave about 30 copies of left over years at cost, to be sent over to Afghanistan for us shooters deployed. I spread those things all over that country to anyone who seemed interested in precision shooting. I assure you that somewhere out there... there is a young military member who has gotten into our type of shooting because of it.

That really SUCKS !!!!! I've had my life membership long enough that I guess I'm not out too much $$$ !! This magazine IS/ WAS one of the reasons I started to develop better loading techniques and precision benchrest shooting !! I'll miss it !! Plus I've turned many other shooters to this magazine...a couple only received 2 issues !!!

Not to take advantage of a bad situation but.....Who wants to buy a COLLECTERS issue #4 VHA mag (signed cover) with Jackie, Janet, and Johns signatures on it for $10,000...lol JK (well maybe not kidding)

Sad day indeed.

I've got every issue of the VHM, all issues of Accurate Rifle, all issues of Small Caliber News, and Precision Shooting from 1997 to when they went TU. Now I'm wondering what that's all worth. Of course it's only worth something to our small niche of fellows, not the general public, but a great reference resource to me.

We're living in 'interesting' times, that is certain. :-\

I have a lot of them also. Just kept them, they were so good.

No phone answer yesterday but I did access the website. You could still send them money to join. Guess it's gone now but not forgotten.

Big loss.

Now - Precision Shooting is also gone. Is there any magazine related to shooting that's worth a hoot? I get Rifle and it's just generic like the NRA publications. Thinking there's nothing left in publication for the precision shooter now.
