New #2231 200gr SMK for F/TR

Shot 2230’s 25 years ago in a 300WBY, they performed the best in a 1:11 twist. 2240’s ran best in a 1:10. If it’s worth anything.

I still haven't shot any of them; I've been focused on shooting what I know works. I'll update in a few months whether or not batch-spinning has a positive effect.

Any updates on these?

Gave up on them; I use them for new shooters to use instead of my stock of Berger 200.20x until they get better. They work well in my 300 BLK for subsonics. After all...I do have a few thousand.

No idea; I have no 8 twist barrels

That is what I intend to try.....can't decide if I want an 8 or a 7 twist. Shooting heavies in .308 for extended periods wont bother me and I like to tinker with loads

I tried them in an 8 twist when they came out. This bullet and another from a small Canadian manufacturer that we released around the same time have similar shapes and problems. I shot a lot of both, still have a bunch. They will tease you. Four shots touching at 100 then one out. Same way on the target you’ll get 4 or 5 flyers per match.

I don’t know if it’s inherent in the short bearing surface or the factory pointing but they don’t work well enough for F class. (IMO)

I know that a couple of other highly successful shooters tried them and independently got similar results.

In the 5 or 6 years of people talking about them no has said that they improved their scores once.
Id stick with Berger's if competing.

I wonder if they would benefit from a tight bore? I really haven't seen anything yet on this. Looks like everyone has shot these out of a standard bore instead of like a .298 bore.....just thoughts
