FORUM NOTICE NEVER use PayPal for Ammunition, Primers, Powder Sales

A while back red flags went up with PP when I purchased a Caliper Base from one of the members here. I wrote "Thanks for the base" in the notes. PP froze my account and I had to fill out a form to explain what I had written in the notes. I explained the base is a part that attaches to a caliper that machinists use for measuring. The next day account was unfrozen and my payment was approved.

If many members delete their paypal accounts I’m afraid we may see a decline in supporting members here. Would be great if an alternative could be found that the site could incorporate with their software
Just a thought,....... don’t you people have credit cards?..... I pay my site fees with a credit card and have for years!...

FORUM BOSS: Correct, you do NOT need a PayPal account to donate or upgrade. You can use a Credit Card or do a one-time bank transfer. Again, a PayPal account is NOT needed in any way to upgrade your account.

Yes, I'm also curious as to whether empty brass and projectiles falls under the no-go category. @Forum Boss, could you please confirm either way? Thanks!
If we look at the eBay rules (and I realize that eBay and PP have parted their relationship in 2020) it might give us some insight into what "could" be considered a restricted item.
The following are not allowed:

  • Firearms of any type
  • Parts and accessories for assault weapons, including blueprints and instructions
  • Any part or accessory in violation of local law
  • Firearm receivers, even if incomplete
  • Ammunition for firearms, including bullets, cartridges, casings, shells, and hulls
  • The following firearm accessories are not allowed:
    • Frames, kits used to create a firearm, flash suppressors, silencers, sears, high capacity magazines that accept more than 10 rounds (even if they have been modified to accept fewer), magazine extenders, bump fire stocks, grenade launchers, and pistol conversion kits
  • The following accessories for semiautomatic pistols are not allowed:
    • Barrel shrouds, forward pistol grips, and threaded barrels

Listings for firearms parts and accessories that we allow must follow these guidelines:

  • The listing must clearly identify the part or accessory being sold as well as the type of firearm it fits ("type" can mean general use and not necessarily brand or manufacturer). For example, "This part can be used with bolt-action rifles."
  • The item must be listed on the US site (eBay.com) and offer domestic shipping only
  • The item must comply with California state law - opens in new window or tab

Examples of allowed firearm parts and accessories:

  • En bloc clips
  • Barrels (exceptions: shotgun barrels less than 18 inches and rifle barrels less than 16 inches are prohibited)
  • Bolts
  • Choke tubes
  • Cylinders
  • Firing pins
  • Hammers
  • Slides
  • Trigger assemblies

Activity that doesn't follow eBay policy could result in a range of actions including for example: administratively ending or canceling listings, hiding or demoting all listings from search results, lowering seller rating, buying or selling restrictions, and account suspension. All fees paid or payable in relation to listings or accounts on which we take any action will not be refunded or otherwise credited to your account.

Yes, thank you, jepp2. I think that your attachment makes things pretty clear. Best to err on the side of caution.

What company is processing your credit card? If you click on the donate button, "PP...xxxxx" is the processing agent.

See the first post in this thread from the Forum Boss...............

FORUM Boss: What he means is that you use your own credit card to send Money to AccurateShooter via PayPal. A member does NOT need a PayPal account to either donate or upgrade.

This is with anything firearm related, I had an optic that was damaged by FedEx. FedEx told me to kick rocks, Paypal was zero help once they found out it was an optic for a firearm. I still use it, but I know there is zero protection and you never ever add notes about anything.

Unfortunately I'm limited to PayPal or CC/DC. I haven't written a check or had a checkbook in years and the nearest post office is over an hour round trip.
