Never Forget

NEVER FORGET THIS DAY.. Tommy Mc !!!
Nor forget ten hours later they attacked the Philippines. Even though MacArthur was warned he did nothing. Then for some BS reason the US government awarded him the Medal of Honor.
An absolutely horrible man. On July 28 1932 he did attack 20,000 US vets camped in front of the White House. Burned their tents and shacks all on his own without orders to do so. What a hero.

Even as bad as MacArthur was. We could use him today! He would not be afraid to tell Biden to put it where the sun don't shine. Afgan pull out would not have happened that way! Where are Chester Nimitz, Chesty Puller, George Patton, And all of the other Generals and Admirals of days gone by?

I was surprised driving to work this morning, that while listening to two different radio stations for almost an hour, neither one mentioned this date. Years past it was almost mentioned first in the news of the hour....

In the immortal words of Admiral Earnest King, "Sometimes you have to call in the sons-a-bitches".

My uncle Earl served under MacArthur in the Philippines. He loved him "because he got rid of those damned mules and got us Jeeps".

I fear that todays attitude will smother any attempt to teach our history, truthfully. As mentioned the lack of coverage and remembrance of what this day means in our history. But look how the media controls the information they put out or bury. Sad state of affairs. I don`t see any solution other then a repeat of 1776. Getting past that rant .God be with the families of Pearl Harbor Heros and WE will not forget. Jeff

Unfortunately MacArthur was not in the group you mentioned. He told his boss of he and his crazy plan for the Korean War were fired.
He enjoyed a quick get away while his men eventually started the Bataan death March.
Long long way from the history books. His Medal-of Honor was FDR’s stunt. He had a general who screwed up. A country that’s morale was wavering.
So the slick move instead of firing him was to award his him the MOA. Actually a deranged old man who was at his best beating WW1 vets off the White House lawn.

My great uncle Donald served in the Philippines and got the trip on the Bataan March. He survived, but carried a deep hate for "Japs" and rice. He also carried a daily reminder of the ordeal with the seven bayonet wounds in his back and ribcage. I guess that might make a guy hate? Jeff

Yeah, Earnie King. Navy version of MacArthur
Responsible for over 300 sinking of merchant marine ships off the east coast in 1942
He refused to allow ( or follow the Brit’s) convoy system. Thick headed and really concerned with the Pacific war. Yet he was in charge and it took a year of sinkings by u-boats until finally he realized he had his head up his ass.
Remember the victors write the history books.
I don’t know what the hell they are teaching in school or why no one bothers to research these alleged great men. I knew a number of merchant mariners who would have strung him up by his balls.
In Brooklyn civilians would drive to Coney Island to watch ships burn after they were torpedoed.
Wonder if they bought ice cream for the show?

Yes it will. You have to have been shot to understand the depth of that hatred.

"A day that will live in infamy." Was a terrible blow to USA, but we responded..
Yeah, sort of. Even though WE were bombed by a sneak attack the USA had to draft 60% of the soldiers. They leave that out of the history books also.
Not meant to disparage any ww2 vets , but nonetheless a fact.

I had four Uncles who were in the service during WWII. One was my mother's only brother Herschel Barron who served in the US Navy. He was on the Cruiser USS San Francisco in the South Pacific and was there during the Battle of Guadalcanal in which the ship was so damaged that it had to return to the States for repair. After repair, he had to return to the South Pacific. I will not forget his service or any of the others of America's greatest generation
