Very good for an AR.View attachment 1615091View attachment 1615092View attachment 1615093
These are 5 shot groups from it. It's an AR with a White Oak Precision Krieger 1:7.7"
I don't recall the pin size.
Pretty darned good for anythingVery good for an AR.
I agree but it’s very rare I see gasser crank out groups like that.Pretty darned good for anything![]()

It's a hammer with AR-Comp and 80 grain bullets. I think I won every AR-Tac match I shot with it, including Indiana state champ
All mine are 3/4 X 28I have always been told that when you turn down a barrels OD substantially, the ID grows some. How much does this effect accuracy? I always try to keep as much diameter on my muzzle devices as possible. Am I chasing shadows? Will a 3/4-24 threaded muzzle be better than a 1/2 -28? Thoughts?
I'd say it's easy to explain. You've learned through experience that it's less troublesome to avoid doing things that caused problems in the past.I have re-contoured and threaded so many barrels they I became sort of unconcerned about it, but I know there is the possibility of distortion when any machining is done. Even with careful stress relief efforts, there remains some possibility. Knowing this is why I have never fluted a barrel for one of my own rifles. It is also why I use the largest thread I can at the muzzle when I am threading a muzzle. As I get older, all of the things I ignored forty years ago, worry me today. Hard to explain! WH
Not data I’ve tracked interestingly enough…since you track this, have you seen the same in carbon? Last barrel I did was an HCA and I noticed it seemed to be straighter than the prior Proof and C6’s I’ve done recently. The others had shot well, just an interesting observation.Another thing I have noticed about barrel distortion is fluting can have a large effect. I have not noticed much difference in how staight the blanks are with your standard straight flutes. But every spiral fluted barrel, especially the diamond fluted or wrought iron looking flutes that I have dialed have on average been double the runout of the worst non fluted barrels.
