NEF single shot, stock won't come off

I have single shot 12 ga NEF single shot. after I removed the recoil pad, there was a cylindrical weight pegged in with a screw. I removed that and when I looked down the hole there was no nut or screw that i could undo. it looked like it was metallic all across with another piece of round metal halfway covering it up. how do I remove?

thanks

it has a camo wood stock

Not this particular model. I removed the butt pad from a Savage 99 and the bottom of the hole was packed with oily sawdust making it appear to not have a bolt. I scraped the hardened sawdust out with a clothes hanger and there was the bolt. The sawdust had been there since 1918 when the rifle was manufactured.
