Need to reduce recoil.

I have no cartilage in both shoulders. Subsequently recoil is a problem for me. I would like to add weight or some other remedy to my stock to reduce recoil. Suggestions please

Drop Bullet weight, DOWN a bit,.. IF, you can and "Trim", the Powder charge !
I went to, a 50 grain Sierra Flat Base Bullet from, a 55 grain Berger FB, Varmint and used about, 1.5 grains less Powder than, my Normal chge, in my .22-250 and AFTER ADDING, a Witt brake, I can see, Sage Rat, Body Parts, a flying, in my Scope, NOW ! This load, "Mirrors" an average, .223 Rem Load, ( Velocity wise ! ).
YUP, the Witt Brakes, "work" nicely with, very little, Muzzle Rise and NO, Recoil with THIS, load !
Make sure the Brake is Square, Tight ( Degrease and loctite down ) and "clears" the Bullets, pass thru, Diameter, so it, won't Hit / strike, the Brake ! These Brakes, do NOT, affect Accuracy if, done Right !
My POI was about, 1 / 2 inch "off' @ 100 yds, after, the Brake was added. Couple of Clicks and,. Bingo !

One thing I realized by accident was that while shooting from a bench it hurts less if you are sitting straight up, not leaning down over the bench. You may have to bring a lower stool to sit on, but this helps alot.
A mercury recoil reducer will be a noticable improvement as well.

Nick! Put a brake on and forget that tuner!
Shoot 68-85 grain bullets.
Buy and shoot a Stag Varmint Barrel AR. I have one and it shoots great! It’s either the Model 6 or 11? I can’t remember! No recoil! That’s your excuse to buy another gun! Heck...you can borrow mine! I’ll send it to you.
Add: It looks like a model 15.

Check out Gooey recoil pads they come in 3/4”, 1”, and 1 1/4” widths… they work really well.

BR recoils? Cant say that I have noticed... mind you my BR rig weighs about the same as a Jumbo Jet.

My current stock is an XLR Evolution, which has a pretty "straight line" from the barrel to the butt. And with the weight of the Heavy Palma 28in barrel, it really doesn't move a lot and tracks the bags fairly well. (Except yesterday, shooting on fairly uneven ground, it kept tracking left, but that was probably me, not the rifle or the bags))

Suggestions please
1. shoot free recoil
2. Caldwell lead sled (I haven't used one, but can't imagine they make a very good quality hold)
3. a bag of lead shot between your buttstock and your shoulder

I'm not particularly recoil sensitive, but when I shot 50 rounds though my 7 Mag in the summer, I would use the Magnum Past Recoil Shield really works in spreading the recoil over a larger area. Given that when you shoot, the butt of the rifle tends to settle in the pocket of your collarbone, does this transmit to your shoulder and cause pain?

Get a tuner brake from Eric Cortina...
Not available in 6mm….

I don’t think that the OP needs to spend $500 to solve his problem, guys, he already has a low recoil chambering. Brakes are not that effective on low-volume cases like the 6BR anyway. They work by redirecting high pressure gasses - the more gas the better they work, but the weight of gas depends on the weight of powder. The BR just doesn’t use much and the muzzle pressure is relatively low as well. Bottom line, there won’t be much change in recoil for the relatively high cost. The OP would be better off adding lead (shot, etc.) in the buttstock and in the forarm under the barrel. A bag of shot between the buttpad and his shoulder will help a lot.
