I want to reduce recoil on my 30 br, it has a rem action, LV barrel xr 100 stock. What would you do on a no rules rifle?
thanks

yes I'm a wimp lol

Get a Harrell's radial brake. That's what I would do. They're inexpensive, and reduce recoil. They don't affect neighboring shooters much.

If its not a weight restricted rifle, add a 1lb Mercury recoil reducer in the butt w/a LimbSaver or a Decelerator Pad.
If you are shooting solo a brake is a great item. On the
competition line, a brake tends to annoy your competitors,
but they do work. If you add all three items you will think
you are shooting a 222. LDS

Are you shooting from a bench or do you use this as a hunting rifle?

If you want to shoot from a bench, get rid of the stock. The original factory stock is meant for field position shooting at game not benchrest. Then you can configure the benchrest stock to be better suited to combat recoil. No need for a brake unless you want one.

If you can't get around replacing the stock then get a suppressor which will solve a multitude of sins for that rifle.

Regards.

Purchase a past recoil pad and forget about it. The recoil pad will tame almost any rifle and you won't have to concern yourself with the obnoxious noise generated by suppressors.

I find it intriguing how much perspectives can vary. Don't get me wrong I'm glad we don't all like the same things. Just imagine how boring that would be. I just never understood the tendency of some to look down upon others who don't share their feelings.

On the topic at hand I find myself in the pro muzzle brake camp. Guns are loud so I wear ear protection. The blast from a brake doesn't bother me one little bit whether it comes from my gun or the neighboring bench. IMO, the reduced recoil outweighs any negatives that may come with a brake.
