Need Throat Analysis -- Used 6BRX Bbl

I just purchased this barrel off of a forum member. After casting the chamber and confirming it is a 6BRX, it looks like the barrel throat is fairly healthy.

For the experienced folks out there, can you please assess the photo of the chamber and throat cast and let me know what your assessment is regarding your estimation of decent throat life remaining based on throat and lands condition in regards to expected barrel life? In other words, does it look like it has lots or minimal life left based on throat/lands/grooves erosion shown in chamber cast photos?

The second picture doesn't show sufficient detail, but the first picture gives one the impression that things are in pretty good shape. I would have someone borescope the throat to make sure. Cerrosafe can give you an idea, but it doesn't cast sharp enough to be definitive.

seat a few bullets of known characteristics and see how much shank you have ,,,that will be a good indicator of bbl wear,,,,,Roger

It looks fine as far as I can tell, but I’m no expert at chamber casting. I would just set it back .150” and call it good. Either that or shoot some groups and if you like it, shoot it till it opens up and set it back a few inches.

If it shoots you got lucky- give it a try. A used barrel is about the worst gamble there is in the shooting world. No way to tell if its going to shoot by just looking at it

Much the same can be said for a new barrel.

Looks good but a borescope and actual shooting is the only way to really tell.
