Need Some more Karma

My wife has been in the hospital 15 days now all due to being hard headed ! The grand kids gave her a stomach virus 4 weeks ago and she would not listen to pleas to go to the doc . Failing to eat and hydrate put her in the ER 3 Sundays ago with extreme A Fib . With the option of shock on the table she could not eat or drink for 2 days making her weaker. When the A FIB was chemically controlled she was allowed to eat but the nurses didn't make sure of it . I fed her for three days because Delirium had set in because she hadn't slept in 4 days . It took 6 days of fighting with the staff and Docs for proper sleep meds and leave her alone to sleep in the morning . Her last solid meal was 11 days ago being fed through a nose tube . She has had only ice chips for these days to strengthen her swallowing ability . They are going to do a test tomorrow to see if she can swallow thickened juice to avert a side entry feeding tube . Either way I have to shop for a nursing home tomorrow for a short term rehab best case scenario . Moral of the story for older folk when you get sick make DAMN sure you hydrate ! It has been a tough 2 years since her son died !!! I just had to get that off my chest !! Ralph Mollett

May God be with you and your wife Ralph. My wife has had A-Fib and a leaking heart valve for a while. This year she had open heart surgery, several Cardioversion procedures, and an Ablation surgery. We have a follow up to the Ablation surgery this week. We're not sure how much of this was due to our daughter dieing 3.5 years ago.

sorry to hear this and hope the best for her. i fell and cracked a vertabrae a couple months ago.. was a wakeup call that us old folks just arent built the way we used to be and need to be careful. and realize how easy it is to hurt ourselves.

Us middle aged folk aint built the way we were a few years ago neither.
I'm stubborn, and resist what my body is telling me in order to get done what needs to get done
It's a slow incoming wake up call to be more careful of simple every day tasks
Until Body says
---"uuumkay that's enough now, you pissed me off, 8 hours of arborist tree climbing is not for people YOUR AGE!!!"
F you! I enjoyed it!
---"Oh yeah? BOOM your backs is out, now shut up!"

To the OP, hope she feels better, good for you taking care of her.
I'm sure she appreciates it more than you know.
