small rifle primer brass, it has been indefinitely discontinued.
I have to wonder how it would be, that only the small rifle primer version of this brass, could be indefinitely discontinued. I do not believe the reason would be along the lines that “Lapua 308” is being made for NATO, or a similar entity, and commercial outlets receive overrun.
I have what I believe to be Nammo’s version of the brass that does end up in military use, and it looks like this. The reason I cannot specify with certainty its origin is that it was a Midway one time purchase, years back, where they use their own packaging and can go out of their way to conceal source or manufacturer. Edit: it is Nammo brass, and Lapua is part of Nammo.
I’m no alarmist but I also don’t like to be the last one that figured something out, and I usually don’t need the very last square turned on wheel of fortune’s board, before I know the phrase.
Lapua has treated the competition community to the highest available quality, in abundance, over its years. I’m spoiled, won’t speak for others. I’m certain that within it, the cause is being championed. I’m also certain though, that rumors have been swirling for a long time, and have been addressed, about the commercial side, which to my recollection, stopped just short of refuting that there should have been any rumors, in the first place.
I simply hope that Lapua recognizes the esteem it’s held in, and that if changes we won’t like are coming anyway, that it’s forthright about them, rather than putting us through a piecemeal weaning. It didn’t escape passing thought that a warehouse’s stock somewhere, determined what would and wouldn’t continue to be delivered. I also don’t mind being the bad guy that keeps raising the issue in my several posts on the subject, at least they know we care.
