need load suggestion

I've got a "bring what you got" match coming up. You fire 10 shots for bullseye @ 100yds, 200yds, and 300yds. 10 minutes per group. I've got a Savage target action, 30" McGowen HB in 6BR w/ .06 freebore, 8 twist, .237 bore, .272 no-turn.

Any suggestions on best bullet / weight / powder combo for something like this?

I'm shooting the 105 Scenars around .3 @ 100yds w/ first loading attempt,30gr Varget seated .015 in lands). I've been working a ton lately and haven't had time to tune this load in yet so it may do better. Should I continue down this path, or try some lighter bullets?

I've got a pre-fit, so it has a short chamber fast twist... go figure. I don't need the extra velocity at this distance I guess, but can't decide what might work best in this perdicament.

I didn't know if I should use a light or heavy bullet for this. Can't predict what the weather might be, and we shoot unless it's lightning, etc...

Thanks in advance,
Bill

I dont dis-agree with the suggested 90 gr data...but...if you have good benchrest bullets,65-68 gr Botique) then I wuld use them...this is what holds all records and wins all matches in the "B"encrest world at distances up to and including 300yds...I have had great results with 133 and its equal and with the long bbl.s' ..,anythng over 26") the Rx-15 is hard to beat...Roger

I would stay with that load, learn where it shoots, zero it at 100 then just use your scope to click up to it. You already know it shoots 0.3- thats pretty good and good enough for a shoot up to 300. You shouldnt have much trouble with wind etc with the scenars. Just load it and shoot that load at this event until you get the time to work on it properly.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm going to order a couple of boxes of lighter bullets to try. If they shoot bugholes out of the gate I'll go with them... if not I'm gonna' try tuning the 105s a little bit and go that route. I didn't mention this earlier, but we're allowed a front bag or bipod and only our hand for the rear. I'm going to try and squeeze as much practice in as I can. I think the target has a 1" x-ring, and a 2" 10-ring. The same target is used at all distances. It may come down to who ever can hold the best without bags.

Thanks,
Bill
