I've got a "bring what you got" match coming up. You fire 10 shots for bullseye @ 100yds, 200yds, and 300yds. 10 minutes per group. I've got a Savage target action, 30" McGowen HB in 6BR w/ .06 freebore, 8 twist, .237 bore, .272 no-turn.
Any suggestions on best bullet / weight / powder combo for something like this?
I'm shooting the 105 Scenars around .3 @ 100yds w/ first loading attempt,30gr Varget seated .015 in lands). I've been working a ton lately and haven't had time to tune this load in yet so it may do better. Should I continue down this path, or try some lighter bullets?
I've got a pre-fit, so it has a short chamber fast twist... go figure. I don't need the extra velocity at this distance I guess, but can't decide what might work best in this perdicament.
I didn't know if I should use a light or heavy bullet for this. Can't predict what the weather might be, and we shoot unless it's lightning, etc...
Thanks in advance,
Bill
