Need load data: 243 Winny N165/90 Gr. Lapua

re, magical merlin, im loading 49g of vit 165 in lapua brass with cci benchrest in a blaser 24inch barrel 243 and have found n165 to be an exellent propellent with low extreame spreads even lower than n160 which is also a v good performer, with 49g n165 with 90 molly scenars im getting ave vl of 3245 fps. paul T, Ireland.

Can you tell me what type of powder N165 is? Is it cylindrical? How does it meter? Thanks.

It's a stick powder, it meters like any other stick. I'm going to shoot it with 105's this weekend in a .243.

chuckw2 have you shot the 95 molly berger vLds in your 243 with either vit n160 or n165 ifso what were groups at 300 and 600 and with what loads, paul T.

I haven't shot any Bergers. I have shot the 107 SMK's,
the 105 Scenar's and the 115 Tubb. All of this was done with H-4350 and VV N-165.
I'm going to shoot the Scenars and N-165 in a 1000 x 5 this weekend.

This is the load that I am going to shoot. I is safe in my stick IT Might Not Be Safe In Yours.

Br-2 Primer
43.1 Grns VV n-165
Necksized in Wilson neck die with a .269 bushing,numbers up)
Bullet seated with Wilson seater
I am in the lands .005.

I getting 2909 fps with 43.1 grns. N165. Very low es and sd.
This shoots great at 600, we will see what it does at 1000. This load shoots under a quarter minute at 200 yards.

I have run up to 44.0 grns of VV N-165 with no pressure at 2961 fps. The gun will not agg at those speeds, went back down to 43.1 now it is shooting lights out.

chuckw2, whats the barrel length and twist rate of your 243, what groups have you achieved with the 105 scenars, & how do you rate the lapua scenars. Ive orderd some 95g bergers vLd to try against the 90 molly scenars which i find great with vit n160, whats your oal from base to tip with the scenars, i find that for some reason my rifle shoots the 90 scenars better with a jump to the lands oal base to tip 67.80mm. paul t.

The 90 grn and 105 Scenars are both excellent projectiles. I have a Pac-Nor 3 groove, 8 twist that is 29.5 inches long. It is a medium Palma contour. This bbl has a high round count on it and I am going to retire it after this shoot.

I have a new .243 3 groove, 8twist heavy palma 29.5 inches that I am going to screw on next week.

The Laupa 90 and 105's seem to me to be a little more consistent than the Match kings out of the box. The weight is more consistent and the base to ojive measurement is more consistent. That being said, I still shoot a hell of a lot of 107 SMK's because they are easy for me to find.

The N-165 is a new powder for me, I have just finished my first 2 lb can. I want to try some H-1000.

With this new barrel, I am going to start shooting the 115 Tubbs, if they fly right, it will be a heck of a good pill for 600 and 1000 yards. The 115's will not agg in my old bbl, I hope they will in my new one.

If I had to buy another bbl in a .243 I would get 7.75 just to be sure it would spin the 115.

The last group I shot with the above load was at 200 yards 10 shots measured .913 inches. The last 300 yard 10 shot group measured 1.595 inches.

Oal measured from base to tip is 2.811 inches, ten bullet average. I set my oal using to ojive not the bullet tip because the bullet lengths vary so much.

re,chuckw2 ive finaly got a answer from the blaser factory in germany that they will produce a match barrel with a 1in 8 twist in 243 but only in standard length barrel of 24.5 inches, the standard 243 barrel that i shoot only has a 1in 10 twist thus limiting me to the 95grainers, plus i own a 308 barrel that interchanges with the 243, im thinking between ordering new 243 barrel or going for rpa action with a border tube, i guss the cost will be the deciding factor but i guss for 600 and 1000 yard work the 30 inch tube shooting the 105 scenars for optimal acuracy would be the way to go. paul T.
