Need help with 22-250 load

55g sierra SBT 1365, 37.5g varget, lapua or Winchester brass, cci 200, br2, or fed 210M. That load has shot extremely well in several factory and custom 22-250s I've owned or worked up loads for. Work up to that load, free float your barrel and i highly recommend bedding the recoil lug or pillar and fully stress free bed it. Also make sure your glass is good. It should shoot itty bitty bug holes. Also if that gun hasn't been shot up till a couple weeks ago make sure the inside of the barrel doesn't have any build up of old sticky oil. Brush the barrel out to make sure you get it all out of you haven't done already.
I have never bedded a recoil lug or any part of the action, but I have been told it's easy to do

Right now I'm having very good look with 8208 xbr and 52 gr Berger's. If you can, as stated before try lighter bullets (below 55gr.) In my experience 55gr and lower all shoot very well once you dial in your load. I'd look for a powder around the burn rate mentioned above and those bullet weights. Then it's seating depth trial and error. You'll get it unless there's just a blatant problem. Be patient, change only one component/ thing at a time and it'll come together. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Sierra 53 gr HP, (flat base, hollow pt) p/n 1400 shot very well in my 12 twist Savage varmint. Sierra manual lists 30.1 (3300fps) to 33.8 (3700fps) of IMR 3031.

Their accuracy load ( shot from Rem 700, 14 twist) was 34.9 gr of RL15 @3600fps.

Thanks to everybody for the help, I loaded some with Varget and some with IMR 4064 both shot pretty good groups but 34.9 gr. Of 4064 made it shoot unbelievable at 100 yards, I think I need to free float the barrel because it's touching bad and it's getting the barrel pretty warm after about 3 shots.

Is that with the 55grn Sierras?

Hi I am new to the site and was wondering if anybody maybe able to tell me what I'm doing wrong, I have a Remington 700 22-250 varmint special and my load is Sierra 55 gr. SBT with 34.1 grs. IMR 3031 at 50 yards it's cutting bullet holes but at 100 yards it's putting them in a baseball size group. Any advice would be appreciated, I'm new to reloading
H380 Powder works well in 22-250 with 55 gr bullets

I run a fairly mild load of 38.5grs H380 behind a 50gr bullet. Out of a 20 inch barrel i average 3580 FPS. I did try Re15 and it liked the upper end. The Re15 shoots tighter groups but i have seen more carbon buildup in the throat which requires frequent cleaning. So i have been running H380 and just about any 50gr bullet seated to there recommended COAL shoots less than 3/4". I would free float and glassbed now because if the stock is touching and the inletting is not 100% your just wasting time, barrel life and components and creating a headache for yourself. Here is 5 shots (factory gun glass bedded and free floated) with the listed load above. The nice part about mild loads is when you get in a good dogtown you dont have to worry about pressure creeping up and nipping you in the butt.

I use 38 Gr H380 with mag 9 1/2 primers and 53 gr VMAX, great load as well as 36.5 Gr. Varget and 52 gr bullets, 210M primers. Both are great loads.
