Need help on a 22BR

Guys I'm going to have a 22BR built (switch brl) .. I have decided on a Hart barrel.. I want to shoot 50 to 65 gr. bullets.
My question is what twist do I need ? It will be used for P-Dog shooting only...

Thanks for the help.....

g smoke , i would go with 12 tw. for the simple reason you want to shoot 65 gr. 14tw. will do 50 -55 but does not stablize 60 or above very well . The Rifler

Its more the length of the bullet than the weight when it comes to twist rates and stability. But the 12 twist will definately stabilize anything 50-55 grains.

My vote for the 14tw. I strongly disagree with you Mikie why would you ever need anything heavier then a 60gr 22cal bullet in a prairie dog town and he stated that was his intended use. My 14tw will satabilize a 60gr Vmax as well a 52gr match bullet. My barrel shoot both 55gr and 60gr bullets exceptionally well but I shoot the 60's for the small wind advantage they seem to display. I can't amigine ever using anything faster then a 12tw with 22br.

I have had both 8 twist and 14. the 8 twist is history. It shot good but not as good as my 14. My 14twist 22BR shoots lights out or low low 2's with 63gr cheek bulets. lee

I have a 14 twist Lilja on a 22BRX. It is good for 55's but as others here have said, probably won't do much heavier. If you are sure that you won't go heavier, why go with a faster twist?

Guys I want to thank all of you for the great advice. I went with the Hart #5 in a 14 twist. Now if I could get some load data and some fire forming tips from you , I would be on the road to what I hope will be a fun adventure.

Thanks again... :)
