I have an old Winchester 190. My first 22lr. Now it's time to pass it on to my grandson. But I wanted to upgrade from the cheap scope I had on it for years. I purchased a new scope, it came with rings/mounts that didn't fit the gun so I went and purchased some rings/mounts that did.
I mounted the scope/rings on the gun, took it to a friend's farm just to fire a few rounds at 25 yards to see where it was hitting and make some adjustments to get it close to POA. The first few shots hit about 15 inches low. I kept adjusting the elevation to raise it up. But I 'bottomed out' the elevation adjustment and it still shoots about 2 inches low at 25 yards.
What can I do to raise this up...or fix this? The only thing that comes to mine is to find something that I can place inbetween the rear bottom ring and scope...to raise it up slightly. (sheets of paper, a piece of plastic...etc.) Once you clamp back down with the rings, I would think it would hold in place. It's a 22lr, not a 30-06 and will work it's way loose from recoil.
Any comments?
