Need BR Stock Help

IMG_0073.JPG

I don't have a benchrest stock of this type, or have access to anyone who does. (kind of living under a rock up here)

Can someone please measure their butt stock when you get a chance? What I am after is actually the angle of the toe. But I can arrive at that angle with the simple measurements above.

Thank you so much.

Jim

A: .50”
B: 1.60”
C: 2.125”

Mine has a 0.7” flat area at the “B” dimension that tapers to 0” behind the pistol grip. The ”C” dimension I gave you is to the bottom of the 0.7” flat area. My stock is a short range benchrest stock on a rifle that Speedy built.

And a pic also. You did a very good job of explaining everything. That is exactly the information I was looking for.

Thanks so much for going to the trouble to measure, etc. PM sent.

FYI: This probably won't help, but we just made some F-Class butt assemblies for a stockmaker that requested a 60 degree side angle and 1/2" across the bottom.

A = .500"
B = 1.625"
C = .974"

Be aware thats not the same stock. The hand drawn one is a mcmillan edge or a bruno (both the same). @bc’z just painted one and could maybe get you a measurement

Hi Dusty,

All I am looking for is the approximate angle (or shape from measurements) of the area that fits between the ears of the rear bag. KCJim's stock works for me.

Lots of stocks list the width of the bottom, (1/2, 5/8, etc) but the approximate angle is not given.

I am not after any "classified" information either. I have a project that I am working on and don't have a contact other than this site, for that information.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the measurements, but I am wondering what kind of bag that would work in.

I am trying to visualize this in my head, the stock is approximately 1 1/2 inches wide, only and inch from the bottom.

Interesting. I probably won't do that.:)
