Im just afraid the accubond may be a little to tough for deer sized game.

I have taken a doe with a 338-06 ack shooting a 225 g accubond. .338 goin in and 2" hole coming out. If your shooting .3" shoot groups, you have just found your load. Plus you can get accubonds at the shooters pro shop for half the price. I shot them and the perform like a first.
I don't where you buy bullets but I just went and checked 338 caliber 225 accubonds are $47.50 for 50. I bought 250 of the 300 Bergers for $170.00. That is a lot less. We shot 5 buck with my gun last year, all at 500 plus yards and all were one shot kills. Four of the 5 never moved. The exits and damage was good. The accuracy in my gun was 5 shots in 4.25 inches at 1000. My buddies did 5 shots in 5.5 inches last week at 1000. Matt

Dk,

I buy factory seconds fron http://www.shootersproshop.com/. They are typically about half the price if you buy blemis. I have never had any problems with them and most of my friends load them as well. I typically buy 2-3 hundred when they have them in stock. Just keep an eye and check regularly for your cal and weight. They sell partitions, ball tips, and the rest of the nosler line up.

I will echo others and say to give them a test at 200-300 yards if you have the range capabilities. With the length of the long VLD bullet, at 100 yds, the bullet may not have "fallen asleep" yet and is still pitching and yawing a bit in flight. A 1" group at 100 could very well be a 1" (or sometimes tighter) at 200/300/400 yards.

Hello
First I think every one is assuming you have a caliper set up to measure the VLD s . If not you are in for a long haul . Hornady makes a good one that won't break the bank . My son has a 300 win mag sendero factory stock that loves the 210 VLDs but trying to build a load at 100 yds will make you pull your hair out ! My 7mm is the same . But at 200 and some H1000 will make smiles on your face . With groups at .324 and .373 respectively . I am also learning RCBS dies and VLDs don't play well together . Reding makes a microliter die just for VLDs and seems to be fool proof .

I use Bergers in my hunting guns and they are jammed , never had one stick in the field. Loaded cases have a fair amount of neck tension ,but nothing excessive. Not saying it can not stick , but has not happened yet.. And beings I am hunting all over a cleaning rod is always in the truck.
