Need advice re COL 6mm br 68gr VMax

I am new to 6mm br and want to use 68gr VMax to break the barrel in. The bullet is too short to even get to the recommended case OAL I have of 2.441. Any suggestions? I am going to start with a medium load of H4895.

What recommended COL? You need to determine COAL length for your bullet in your barrel. The COAL is based on the bullet you are using, the free bore and throat erosion. My 6BR has a 0.065" freebore. To touch the rifling with a 68 GR Berger the COAL is about 2.224". With a 55 GR Hornady VMax the COAL to touch the rifling is 2.196". The bullet is only about a forth of the way into the neck.

Perfect. Thanks.

I actually know that, but I don't have the barrel. It is coming in a week and I wanted to load up some rounds to break it in. Have the dies and new arbor press and all.

I do know the freebore from the reamer (.093 its set up for 107s I believe) so I think I can make a really close approximation for now.

I appreciate the time.
