need advice on converting a remington 700 to shoot 6mmbr

I have read a couple articles on converting remington 700 short actions to shoot the 6mmbr, the ones I have seen envolve shortening the mag follower, but I would like to keep it full length to allow longer chasing of the lands.
I was wondering if any one here has got there rifle to reliably feed the 6mmbr, and if so what modifications did you need to do to make it work?
Please be specific and descriptive, I am not the brightest bulb..lol

Thank you all very much your help is greatly appreciated!!

I've been down the same path and used the Bryant Custom converted mag follower, spring etc and while it did feed ok with the 95 & 105grainers I were never completely happy & didn't like the scratched cases etc so ended up glueing in a singleshot follower. I'm not limited by magazine length now, no damaged cases & can almost reload as quick as having a magazine if I'm organised. Save yourself the money and just pop in a single shot follower.

Re: need advice on converting a remington 700 to shoot 6mm br

I have a stiller predator action, with a shilen 10 twist varmint contour barrel in 6br, and it feeds flawless. I had my smith shorten the mag follower and insert a spacer inside the box magazine to shorten it up a bit to match the follower. My rifle is great! My stiller is a rem 700 copy so you shouldnt have any trouble. Actually I started out with a rem 700 before i went to the stiller. the reason i switch was simply because i like custom actions. they just make since to me. The stiller predator action is only around $200 more than a trued up rem, and you get a better extractor with the stiller. The only mechanical complaint i had with my rem 700 6br was the ejector. it worked ok stock, but the stiller pitches the cases out even better. Maybe to good. I think i will snip off a couple coils on the ejector spring. Do it, but do it correctly and you will be fine. I never had any feed issues or scratched cases!! Lee

I've got two 22 Dashers and a 6 Dasher set up for coyotes and have not done the conversion to any of them. I just load the magazine about in the middle and call it good. The key is to not dilly dally working the bolt, usually not a problem when more than one come to the call. ;D
