We will be in Florida (Fort Lauderdale) for about one week. What should we see, spend time on, have to eat places, travel to places....

Is it worth the time to drive to Orlando and spend time there vs Forth Lauderdale or do both?

TIA for all recommendations.

You could take a 1 day Gordy Gritters chambering class.

The drive to key west in the early am is very beautiful. Lion country safari, Ft. Lauderdale beach, Won’t support Disney anymore, but the Universal Studios and St Augustine is pretty amazing place. Have fun.

If you have the time, drive down the Jimmy Buffett Highway to Key West. Well worth the drive. If you don't have a long day to spend, any amount of it is well worth doing. We go every other year.

Also, Tiger Wood's restaurant, The Woods on Jupiter is a great destination.

Also the Yamato Colony is worth seeing.

Yea. I forgot the Everglades. It is very cool. I went camping there. They have airboat tours, camping. Although, went down the trials, picked a bad one and quickly turned around when the there was a large snake hanging down from a tree above my head o_O

Key West, I am planning to take a drive and spend one or two nights there.

Navy Seal museum up in Fort Pierce is an option. Other than that, I hope you're used to an ungodly amount of traffic. Edit: There's a guide who takes people on the canals to shoot iguanas with a blowgun and darts.

Walk around the old Riverside Hotel on Las Olas Blvd and up and down that neighborhood with the canals behind. Very nice. The art museum to the west is quite nice. There's a science museum also. Find some boat ride that will take you on the river where you can see the outlandish homes from the water and the 100' yachts.

Also, on the island off of Sunrise Blvd check out the Bonnet House museum. Nice shady break right on the beach if you've had enough sun at the ocean.

Born and raised in SoFla. It depends on what appeals to you. Lots of beaches, good restaurants, fishing, kayaking, diving, etc. Wynwood is the new chic neighborhood in downtown. Little Havana has great Cuban food. Try Versailles restaurant for Cuban cuisine. Visit Vizcaya, the San Simeon of Miami. Various local marinas and parks rent kayaks to go around the coastal mangroves. Haulover Beach has 1/2-day fishing charters and provide all the equipment and bait. Spend a morning in South Beach (tip of Miami Beach) walking around and checking out the Art Deco Hotels. Go skin diving at John Pennekamp on the way down to Key West. In Key West visit Hemingway's house. Go to Shark Valley in the Everglades (about 50 miles west of Miami) to see the gators and other critters.
