I have a RCBS prep center and need to purchase a new tool for deburring the outside of the case neck.
The VLD chamfer tool works great on the inside and is still sharp after years of service but the deburring tool sucks.
Which tool do you like??
I don't like any that i have ever tried.
That includes an ancient Herters, a Bair and 3 made by Wilson.
I think you could make a good one using a piloted neck turning tool like those sold by Marquart or K&M.
Set the shoulder of the pilot to give a minimum acceptable outside chamfer using a hand ground tool bit.
Severance Tool and many others make industrial tube end deburring and form tools.
A lot of guys use the 3 way case trimmer cutter heads. I have never tried those since they are so expensive.
For 20 bucks, I think it's a very solid buy since you get 6 different attachments: inside (VLD) and outside deburring attachments, small and large primer pocket reamers and cleaners, all of which will work in your RCBS case prep center. It has a knurled aluminum body which unscrews into 2 parts in case you ever want to use it by hand.
I haven't noticed any change in sharpness after over 1k rounds.
