Wish I could . That’s an almost 4 hr drive for me . The older I get the more I don’t like to travel . Lol .OP,
I see you are from Pennsytucky as well.
If you can check out the VBR shoot at Ridgway , PA.
There is actually a match this sunday the 4th.
I have seen a few shooters there using straight
6br.
A lot of shooters travel a long ways to shoot those matches every month.
Great people , good humbling time.
I would not put that downrange until you know you are on targetI have a long shot target cam that works pretty well , as long as I don’t accidentally shoot it ! Lol
There were some for sell on the forum that were from a very good lot, but you snooze you loose .... I may have some of the new 108's and maybe some 105 Lapua L's.... jimCan u sell me 500 ? Lol . Just found 500 but they want $300 bucks .
Thanks !I’ve shot plenty of 107’s and I always keep them on hand but the lot of 109’s I have shoot better at 1K. You just have to try them all, or whatever you can get…
I just messaged Tom that makes them asking if I could buy 100 .I'm going to give the V Tac's a go in my 6br. You should check them out. Take SPJ up on his offer. I believe you'll be glad you did. There's quite a few PRS shooters using them and full custom for competing and practice on steel.
With a straight Br at 1000yds you are at a disadvantage to the BRA and other variety of modified cases. You just don’t have quite enough boiler room. If you are able to get a 103 class bullet out at say 2975 you are in the game. The Br’s run out of gas at 1000 to be competitive. Very good choice at 600 though. Have a very good spotter with good glass to spot your shots. But above all, have fun.
Good to know ! Thank youGenerally true, but at the 2019 NBRSA Regionals a fellow shot a 3.678 10-shot group at 1000 yds with a straight 6 BR. He wound up 4th overall in the heavy gun class.
just the winnersJust curious, do many 1k Benchrest shooters run flags that you know of ?
Loljust the winners
Not many then!just the winners
Rusty I hope all is well with you and yours'Not many then!
Went today but not very productive . Got off 5 shots for group at 300 and chrono 5 shots . Started at 28g Reloder 15 with the 109 hybrid jammed .02 . First and only 5 shot group measured .93 . Not too shabby . First 2 went in same hole. Going slow though , 2670. Have more to shoot at 28.3, 28,6 and 28.9. After those 10 shots it poured on me . So what’s your opinion on where I stand ?Mark,
1k is no big thing, just get a good 100-yard zero in no wind conditions, with your load. Crono the load if possible. Use JBM to calculate your come-up (https://www.jbmballistics.com). At 2800 fps should be around 28 minutes above 100 yds when shooting at sea level & 75f . I used a 6BR back in 1999 to set a 1k NBRSA world record in Raton, NM...2.653" at the time. Just shoot & be happy!
Nice !This is a 6 br 1000 yard target from last June, I was running Berger 108s quite a bit hotter than your 109s.
