Neck up or down?

I’m contemplating a 25 cal. of some sort and would prefer not to have to turn necks. So, which would be easier, down with 6.5x47 or up with 6 Creed?

Up will thin, down will thicken.
Brass has to go somewhere.

another option is to neck up 6x47L Peterson brass

Necking up thins the brass, but appears to more often thin very unevenly. Necking down the brass seems to be more even but requires more turning.

I usually prefer necking down.
Easy to remove brass if needed, not so easy to add.

Might help to know what cartridge your thinking about.

That’s still being decided. Most likely either
x47 (Lapua brass) or GT (brass on hand). I’d have to find someone with a GT reamer to do an ARC Archimedes prefit.

Necking up yields a donut.

I neck up using a tapered mandrel in a lee collet die. Very consistent

If you start getting "donuts", push them to the outside and turn them off as/if needed.
I go up or down with no issues. Don't go looking for trouble if it isn't there.
Wanted to go 6.8 from 6BR. One pass on Lapua brass with a mandrel got me where I wanted to go. That case specs (as is) was used to cut my reamer. No issues and NO neck turning.
Going down? Again no issues. (and no donuts)
What ever you end up with, It'll be a wildcat anyway so make it what YOU want it to be.
