Another tip for neck turning newbies: order a cutter that's a bit more angle than the case shoulder you're working with. In other words, a 35 degree cutter for a 30 degree shoulder angle, for example. That will give a nicer blend into the neck with no sharp edge.

I’ve been using the 21st Century neck turning lathe for a number of years now. The unit is very easy to use and provides great results. I have to say that most any tools from 21st Century are great and precision oriented tools.

Having a case power drive adapter with a post that is a close fit inside the primer pocket is much better than the alternatives. Both PMA Tool and 21st Century Innovation make them. PMA makes a delrin ring that goes over theirs that makes it easy to tighten.

One addition, using a good lube on the mandrel avoids heat and aids consistency.
i used to do Lapua necks with Two turns, Hart/ K&M, just finished necks on Alpha brass in one shot, K&M, using Royal case lube on the mandrel…..little heat, little brass wash, they all measured up great checking with my ball mic.
This Alpha stuff cuts great, zero cutter marks.

I’m going to try my hand at neck turning and wanted to know what you are using. Can’t afford an IDOD, so that’s not an option. Any recommendations are welcome.
