Neck Clearance

Question, is this rifle a Savage with a new barrel?

Trued Remington

Does the hard bolt pull to the rear stop when the neck of the case clears the neck of the chamber?

Or when does the hard pull to the rear "stop".

Bolt lift is primary case extraction and should normally break the case free from the chamber walls. And I'm asking you questions to narrow down your problem, "But" you are the one cycling the action. I asked about Savage rifles because they are known for extraction problems.

Also known to be very uoogly!

CatShooter, I have two Savage rifles (they are actually Stevens 200) before they stopped making them in favor of the really, really fugley Axis rifles. Don't tell anyone but I'm thinking of trading one of them for a Remington model 700 SPS Tactical that is much better looking.
