They can put whatever bills they want on the floor. Still has to go through the Senate with 60 votes and have the President sign it. Long row to hoe when the ground is hard and I think Trumps not going to do them any favors at this point.

Very true, but I’m not looking forward to 2020. I’m afraid we might be the ones hoeing the long row at that point.

If background checks ever pass nationally, don't let them make them required every gun purchase like in CA. I've paid for the same background check x times. Buying a $200 boltless action from Bud's gun shop I have to add close to $100 for the background check and paperwork.
Although I totally agree with this a reasonable time period might be better than leaving it open. You should pay once get a card that lasts like five years, or a reasonable amount of time. Might even be a good add onto a driver's license like any other endorsement. If your gender is marked x dont even try to apply
That's in the Bill, suppose to stop the "gun show loophole", "Internet sales" and private sales....

There's no such thing as a "Guns Show Loophole". Why do folks even bother to mention it? Try to buy a gun at a Gun Show WITHOUT going thru a background check and see how far you get? Don't know or ever heard of anyone able to buy a gun INSIDE the show without going thru an FFL .

Your FFL dealer may be taking advantage of you, If I buy at local store it is only $25. If I order in it is $50
I doubt they believe any of that. What they do believe is that background checks can only be verified by a national registration of all firearms.
I think if this passes they will make it so that even private sales will have to go through an FFL and the gun dealers will not fight it as it is more $ in there pockets but it still will not work. With the amount of guns out there if 2 parties (seller and buyer) decide to side step the law who is to know. The only people that will abide by the law are the law abiding people and the FFL dealers.

I think he said GUN OWNERSHIP loophole...not GUNSHOW loophole but that word LOOPHOLE is tricky.
Interesting development, a toll on an essential Constitutional Right. Perhaps the NRA should float the idea of a toll on the First Amendment too. News agencies must pay a toll to publish a newspaper, or buy broadcast rights. Every word taxed and regulated through background checks on all authors before publication. A tax and background check on the ink and keyboards they purchase too, similar to CA's law on buying ammo.
If the pen is mightier than the sword, the same reasoning used to regulate the second amendment, safety, is certainly applicable to the first. Can't yell "fire" in a movie theater is an oft quoted reason for limiting the first amendment rights.
Imagine this, a lawmaker having to undergo a background check and pay a tax before holding a news conference or speaking publicly.

I'll say this I have had a CC in NEW YORK since 1969 the only thing it is good for is buying a pistol! If I want a long gun I need to show my Drivers licence. So as far as I'm concerned, It's just a way of getting more money out of the people. And yes every five years they do another background check, more money.

Question to FFL holders. When you do a NICS check, you check handgun or long gun and no serial numbers or caliber(discription) are entered????? So, the feds only know if you bought a long gun or hand gun????? Now, it has been my understanding that all this information is purged after a ???? time(any idea what the time is) Am I correct?
However, with computer ease of storing information, I doubt highly if the information is ever completely purged, but the only info they have is your name and address, etc, etc., no serial numbers, calibers, just long gun or hand gun? Do I understand correctly????

That is not correct. How do I know? I had a pistol that was stolen around 30 years ago (Colt Officer's Model .45). I am pretty sure that a room mate I had at that time stole it and I did not report it. Therefore there was no record of it other than when I bought it. Well, 5 years ago, I got a call from a police dept. about 90 miles away asking me if I had a pistol stolen. I replied yes and they said come pick it up, which I did. I asked the detective how he got my information and it was from my background check. I was curious and talked with him some more and he also indicated that he had once been able to return a shotgun that had been stolen for over 50 years through background check information.

Not only that - but think about how all of these dangerous 'Antifa rallies' have become! We must do SOMETHING to protect our defenseless CHILDREN.
This sounds like a GREAT idea to me - universal speech registration - to save us from those who misuse/abuse it.
