Name your rifle?

This is my "Rat Rod" rifle. Only items bought as new off the shelf were the scope rings. Every single other piece was bought second hand. In true american rat rod fashion, it all came together to perform exceptionally well. Even beyond a quarter mile at a time.

All mine have names, but here's but one: "SPOD"

That's short for the Silver Princess of Death

Blueprinted M700 action, Pac-Nor SS Super Match 204 Ruger Match chamber, Jewell 10 oz., H-S stock, Leupold VX3 6.5-20X LR w/VHR and M1 elevation. Thousands of sage rats really hate this rifle!

Nice, very nice looking setup.

Only one has a name, I call it POS or "the rifle I got "BLANKED" on". It's a shot out 22-250 I did some "horse trading" on. It's gonna sit in the back of the safe until I can afford to have it re-barreled.

Hmmm! Never really felt the need to name inanimate objects. I didn't even name the fish in my aquarium. But it would be fun to name a horribly inaccurate rifle "Ole Miss". No offense to Mississippi football fans.

Grandpa gave me a very early 70's model 700 7mm Rem Mag when i was a teenager. I hunted with it for many years until i started dabbling in the 6.5 stuff for hunting and the old 7 mag was set aside. After about 20 years of non use i decided to rebuild the old girl. Turned it in to a 300 Win Mag long range steel banger. Grandpa shot left handed as do i. His name was Vernon and so is this rifle ! 20180607_183619.jpg

I never named a rifle...until this one. The morning I picked it up I had made it less than a mile from the gun store when I saw a couple vehicles pulled off to the side of the road. The next thing I knew, a pig followed by the frantic owner ran out and crossed the road in front of me. I must have been hungry because I immediately decided to call the rifle “Bacon”.

Alex is building me an identical back up rifle. The only difference is the color pattern in the stock will be reversed. I guess it will need to be named “Eggs”.

Dave.

Logically, rifles are inanimate objects but when a live round is in the chamber and the trigger action/process is initiated various attributes associated with non imaginary names like Lucrezia and Largetha come into mind.

"DD",for daily driver on my stainless R700 7-08 cast rig. Got safes full of nicer rifles but this one is the rifle that gets used every day, rain or shine.Back when I was, nothing but revolvers.... it was a 1980 4" 629. Same M.O.,it's the one that just seems to be the DD over every thing else?

Never named a rifle but oddly enough, given my post in the snowflake thread, I rattle canned my current match rifle stock white then shot a pearl coat over that. I call it my little "Snowflake". And it's not because it melts in the presence of the mighty 284's everyone is shooting these days. Although that has been known to happen...

I'm probably the king of irrelevant posts and here's another. Y is big boys and there toys get names. Think boats, planes. I'm tired of Bighorn Custom #1 and Bighorn Custom #2. So I choose SINGULARITY for my 6br and I'm searching for a name for my new coyote buster. Hey BUSTER. That will work. Childish, yes I know but I don't have a boat or plane. Mike
Just call mine OldYeller
